Computers in Our Lives

The first computer was made of electronic tubes in 1944. At that time people had
no idea about the importance of computer in the future. Through years computers
were getting cheaper, smaller, and more powerful and their influence grew bigger
and bigger, so today we can't imagine life without them.
Although in the early seventies computers became widely used, for many they were
the notions related to SF movies, where artificial intelligence saves human lives,
The world used to be a place where people had to think for themselves.
Until 1946, ENIAC, the first large-scale, general-purpose electronic computer, was unveiled. ENIAC
(which stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer). While crude by compared to today's
systems, ENIAC did marked the dawn of the information age. Imagine life without computers! Life with:
No word processors. No Internet. No voice mail. No billionaire Bill Gates. How did we ever live without
them? Life has changed in many parts of our daily lives due to the advent of computers, our home, work,
school and many other parts of our lives have been made easier and in some instances complicated by
computers.
Many think that having a computer at home will help their children with their schoolwork or change what
they do with their free time. Or perhaps they imagined that a computer could help them replace stacks of
bills and receipts with a more manageable computerized system. The computer can do many things in the
home. There are lots of different applications available for everything from financial planning and
organization, to recipes to entertainment. The biggest advent in computing that will affect the home is the
Internet, it offers an ever changing and global community right at your fingertips. On the Internet you can
find information and examples of just about anything you can imagine. Computers are quickly becoming
commonplace in every home, and if used properly computers can become quite a useful item there.
     The Other place where most of the people in the world spend their time is at work Computers at
work can be put to good use also. The most obvious places that you would use a computer is doing
accounting, financial planning and data management. Computers at work can help to eliminate tedious,
time-consuming, and work that can be filled with errors.

track of data numbers or character data, the computer can help you to find the information you need in a
flash or make a slight adjustment or a major one for that matter to a column of numbers that on paper
would take quite a while.

number crunching, "text editing" or "word processing" is the most common use of computers in the
workplace. Word processors can be used for everyday correspondence, memos, and notes. They work great
for designing and printing detailed reports, proposals, contracts, descriptive materials, and templates of  
text useful for repeated distribution.  A database is a software package used for, any collection of
information.
