The commercial unification and uprising of Europe was a result of a long process of mistakes and smart
business situations being taken advantage of. In the long run Spain and Portugal, while very important in
the construction of the trade and infrastructure of Europe, they were not however able to reap the benefits
of their exploration and colonization fully.
     The treaty of Tordesillas according to the Pope and Spain and Portugal was the definitive legal
document that stated that the world would be divided in half and that Spain would have territorial as well as
trade rights to one half while Portugal would have command over the other half. As a result large
expeditions were set forth throughout the world as both mercintile states set fourth to expand their horde in
order to maintain their power.  In these conquests both nations while there main interests were for the
discovery of wealth and power they did so ineffectively.It tended to neglect the large commodity trade
within it’s own continent.
     The real profit was in creating possible markets in which to absorb the products as well as creation
jobs and trades in new markets used for gaining access to these markets. Ship building and design was a
way for the other commercial powers to cash in on the exploration age.  Spain and Portugal tended to be the
only real trail blaze...
