Term Papers on Masturbation
Masturbation Don't you wonder why we never see newspaper headlines about the health benefits of masturbation? Every month you hear of a study proving that a daily glass of wine or a brisk walk through the park is good for the heart. Considering how the media loves sex, it's surprising that we haven't seen the headline "Study Shows Daily Masturbation Reduces Stress, Invigorates Heart, and Prolongs Life." It's just another example of the taboo shrouding of this simple sexual activity, because all of that is true! People have been obsessing for so long over the mythological health risks of masturbation that they don't stop to think about the numerous benefits. Not only can it relieve stress and tension, help you sleep and alleviate menstrual cramps, but it keeps your pelvic muscles toned, it's a good cardiovascular workout, and it's probably good for your complexion! What's more, this simple act of taking responsibility for your sexual needs is bound to improve self-esteem and self-confidence. Masturbation is not bad for your health. Many scientific studies have been done to see if any relationship exists between masturbation and health and all the studies show NO link between masturbation and health problems. These studies have been conducted by well-respected researchers in various universities, hospitals and clinics. The only link between masturbation and any sort of problem is NOT physical, NOT medical, NOT mental (masturbation has NOT been found to contribute to losing one's memory or even difficulty in sleeping, etc.) but is "emotional." These emotional problems include worrying excessively about masturbation and/or feeling guilty about it. In other words, it is NOT masturbation that causes any anxiety or any psychological, mental, or physical problem but what masturbation means to an individual. Objectively, there is absolutely nothing wrong with masturbation. But subjectively (for example, if the person makes himself so worried he cannot sleep or eat) there could be a problem. "Masturbation is a normal, natural activity throughout life," says Robert Pollack, a psychology professor at the University of Georgia. It may even contribute to mental health and not doing it may lead to psychosexual problems. For men, masturbation or regular sex is good for the prostate and can prevent painful prostate blockage. Storing seminal fluids for long periods also causes prostate congestion, which in turn can lead to urinary and ejaculatory pain. Regular ejaculations, either through masturbation or intercourse, can help ward off this condition, also called non-specific prostatitis and, for obvious reasons, "sailor's disease" and "priest's disease." For women it can help reduce cramping and for both men and women has been shown to have a healthy effect on the immune systems as well as reducing overall tension and helping emotions. Besides being healthy for the body, a private grope can help both a man and a woman better understand their own sexuality. Masturbating can help one learn what truly brings maximum pleasure - no one knows your body than you do. You can share that knowledge with a partner and have more mutually fulfilling sexual sharing. The self-awareness gained from masturbation makes it a central feature of many sex therapy programs. One potential concern is reliance on masturbation for sexual pleasure to the exclusion of intimacy with another person. But in such cases, masturbation is probably a symptom, not a cause, of larger psychological barriers to intimacy. Most people want relationships. Using masturbation to avoid relationships with others may be a psychological problem to be explored with a sex therapist, Evolution may have even designed us to be masturbators. Notice when you are standing where your hand falls if you hang it in front of you. Apes do it, dogs and cats do it, elephants do it and even porcupines ha... This is ONLY a preview of the article.
