Video Mail Order Company BUZZ-A-VIDEO is a new video mail order company. The company depends greatly on the different means of distribution of video catalogues to reach most of its customers or by the word of mouth. It provides a wide range of video from series, talk shows to musical plays such as CATS, Les Miserables and including the latest films shown in cinemas. The company has set out a 3-days delivery policy, however, due to the lack of a suitable management information systems, operations does not flow smoothly, for instance, on a busy day, some orders are sent to the wrong address or a wrong video was been delivered. Due to this problem, several customers' complaints have been received. So the company to investigate into the matter and questioned all 150-company staffs operators to examine further problems that arose. The company aims to readjust their management information systems in order to manage the scheduling time to meet up with the 3-days policy the company set out to achieve. Apart from this, we have a express policy whereby customers can receive their videos in one day, with an extra fee charged to their account during the transaction. Hence, the company has concluded that for them to achieve their aim and the following objectives below. They have decided to develop an early prototype of a small database system and demonstrated it in the workshop to test if the system is feasible or not. On top of these the management has also hope to able to analyse their market position. The objectives of the new database: 1) Create user friendly functions whereby required information is only entered once into the system and subsequently everything else is automatically updated. So as to help operators to get to the required information quicker and readily prepared. 2) Security-based system to protect and prevent the confidentiality of documents in the management system on the customers. 3) For geographical purposes which is one of the key problems. A system that allows the management to know the time of delivery of an order to the time it arrive to the right household. An order is completed. 4) Help to produce a statistical analysis on the demographics and a regional survey on the most popular orders requested, the response --- good or poor or seasonal response on certain movie type. As introduced as a mail order video catalogue company, the team has decided to create four individual tables for different selected purposes. The four tables are as follows: q Compact Disc q Customer q Video q Order q Delivery A compact Disc table includes In the customer table, it will show the basic information of the personal portfolio of all the customers who have ordered from the company. Following this, a video table has been illustrated to display the full range of videos that the company provides in its catalogues. Subsequently, an order table is produced to insert orders made from customers and finally, a delivery table is created to ensure that delivery mistakes are avoided and records are kept to allow any information on delivery to be answered. With the four basic tables, we have extended to eight queries as shown.
