Aristocrats are a group of people considered superior to others with great wealth and are landowners and usually have part in the cavalry of that city's army.
Phalanx is a form of fighting used by the Greeks which made all of the men in the army hold their shields forward almost creating a moving wall.
Tyrant is a man who seized power and established a one man control.
Oligarchy is a form of government in which a small group of people holds political power.
Peloponnesus is a peninsula forming the southern part of Greece.
Helots are slaves or surfs of the Spartans.

Greek Assembly is the legislative branch of their government which gave freedom of speech, they had 10 selected generals, and had an equality of power.
Ephor is an overseer of government like our check and balances.
Sparta is a city-state of ancient Greece in the South East Pelopennesus.
The Council of Elders is the oldest people of the city and made up the judicial system of Greek government.
Athens is the capitol of Greece near the Seronic Gulf.
Attica is a/n peninsula in the lower part of Greece.
Draco's Law Code gave citizenship to lower classes.
Solon's Reforms were reforms made to improve economy like Greek trade & commerce.
The Persian Wars were when Greek Colonies in Asia minor had been added to the Lydian Empire and caused a great controversy.
The Golden Age of Athens was after the Persian Wars and was a time of great learning and happiness.
