Tahiti

Dear: Vacationer
I am glad you have chosen Tahiti as your vacation spot. I think you should have some history on the island. Tahiti was discovered in 1768 by French explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville who claimed the island for France. Here are facts on the island. The size of the island of Tahiti is 1036 sq.km. The island is consisted of two circular, uneven parts. The total population of Tahiti’s island is 130,000 people. The capital city of Papeete has 23,555 people of that population.

There are 3 major, and 2 official languages in Tahiti. The French and Tahitian languages are official and English is understood in most places. As in most places in the South Pacific the CFP dollar is the currency in Tahiti.

The climate in Tahiti is very warm. The main time that rain falls in Tahiti is December 1st to February 28 Th. The temperatures between these times usually range from 22-30 C (72-90 F). The dry times are from March 1st to November 30th in which the temperatures are between 18-22 C
(64-72 F).

On the islands making up French Polynesia there are only two major industries. The first is Tourism. Tourism is most popular on the islands of Tahiti. Moora, and Bora Bora. Tourism is so popular because of warm climate, and the friendly locals. The second major industry in French Polynesia is Nuclear Testing. The French use under populated Atoll’s or small islands that are under their control to test Atomic Bombs.

Since Tahiti is such a small island there are only a few place of interest. The first one is Point Venus, the historic landing of Captain James Cook. The second place is the Gauguin Museum where the Polynesia culture is displayed. The third and last place of interest is the Lagoonarium, it is a large natural underwater observatory showing a large amount of different fish.

     Here are some recreational activities:
· Play golf on Tahiti’s only golf course. This par 72, 6550 yard championship style course was designed by a California golf course architect.
· The circle island tour takes you on tour of Tahiti. From the Arahoho blowhole to the Faaruu...
