Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain A Report by Kelly Jo Larsen Main Characters: Huckleberry Finn- son of the town drunk and narrator of the story Jim- A slave friend of Huck and Tom's who is to be sold down south Plot: The book begins by Huck deciding to tell his own story since everyone has heard about him through the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Huck is the son of the town drunk and lives with the Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson. They keep themselves busy trying to "civilize him". Huck's father soon discovers that Huck has come into a little money, and decides to kidnap him. Huck is held prisoner in a shack across the river, but fears for his life and escapes. He hides on Jackson's Island, where he finds Miss Watson's runaway slave, Jim. Huck and Jim become fast friends, and when Huck learns of a search party coming to the island to look for Jim, they escape down the Mississippi River together. They plan to make it to the Ohio River, and the free states, but a steamboat strikes the raft they are floating on. When Jim and Huck get ashore they run into the Grangerford men, who are in the middle of a feud with the Shepardson's. They stay with them until they happen to witness the death of many people when the feud escalates. They then escape back to the raft. ... This is ONLY a preview of the article.
