Gawain and the Green Knight

If a satire was to be written on “Gawain and the Green Knight,” the satirist would not a have a problem finding faults in the society in which it took place in, and poking fun at those faults.  Just like in Don Quixote did, the satirist writing about “Gawain and the Green Knight” would certainly poke fun at the elements of medieval romance.  The author of “Gawain and the Green Knight” dramatizes several of these elements.
     The most obvious of these elements that applies in this story is the element of the supernatural.  From the very beginning, the appearance of a strange man, who happens to be completely green, is an absurd supernatural phenomenon.  The man then begs someone to chop off his head, and then proceeds to pick up his decapitated head and get back on his horse as if nothing had happened.  Another supernatural incident was when Gawain went to fulfill his part of the deal.
