For years people in the United States have had privileges and rights.  They are able to get licenses to have extra privileges.  There are gun licenses, hunting licenses, fishing licenses and many others.  The most convenient license is a driver’s license.  With a drivers license people can get around without depending on anyone else.  They can go wherever they want, whenever they want.  For many years now the driving age has been at the age of sixteen.  Sixteen is the perfect age for a person to get licensed to drive. They can drive themselves to and from sport activities and work without inconveniencing their parents.  For some reason the Governor wants to up the driving age to twenty-one.  Raising the driving age to twenty-one is not a good idea due to the fact that it would be an inconvenience for parents and their children to get to and from everyday activities.

Although some people think the driving should be raised to twenty-one, most know this to be untrue due to the fact that by raising the driving age they would be making activities not only an inconvenience for teenagers but also for their parents.  Many parents do not have the time to escort their children everywhere they need to go.  They have jobs and also their own activities to attend.  At the age of sixteen students get involved in more after school activities.  Some kids get into some kind of sport where they have practice every day after school.  Most of these practices don’t end at the time they are supposed to. The parents end up sitting in the parking lots for a half an hour, when they just got out of work and feel like going home.  Teenagers need their own transportation.  With a license teens can drive themselves back and forth from practices.  They wouldn’t have to inconvenience their parents.

By raising the driving age to twenty-one businesses would lose a lot of employees.  Some kids wouldn’t have transportation to and from work.  Businesses do not want to lose these workers for the fact that they are cheap labor.  The businesses only have to pay them minimum wage.  The businesses would also lose customers.  Teenagers are a big part of the customers in businesses.  The fast food restaurants would really lose a lot of business.Teenagers make up over fifty percent of fast food restaurantes total business.  Without these teenagers, businesses would lose a great deal of money.  Even the schools would lose money.  Kids need transportation to go to sporting events.

Raising the driving age for teens would be unfair.  People are always blaming teens for bad driving.  Well, it’s time to take a look at older people.  A lot of Senior citizens can’t drive well at all.  There should be a law making sure these elderly people mare still safe to drive.  As people age their driving skills get worse and worse.  Older people will just pull right out in front of others.  They don’t think that they have to follow the rules.  Why are they targeting the young people?  It doesn’t matter if someone is twenty-one or sixteen when they get their license...
