Autobiography of Debrina L. Frazier

Section I:     Family Composition and History

My name is Debrina L. Frazier my family is very small, consisting of my

mother 43, my father 45, and myself 17.  My parents both being college graduates

have always stressed the importance of a good education.  Mother is a school teacher and

father is a contractor, so we are an upper middle class family.  Mother is the strong willed

“doer” in our family, while father is the silent “supporter.

Section II:    Life-Line Activities

When I was younger,  eight months to  seven years old, I participated in beauty

pageants and won seventy-two titles.  I started dance lessons when I was two years old.  I

began public school at the age of six which was the biggest mistake of my young life.

The children in school, especially the girls, didn’t like me and still don’t like me to this day

because of all of the activities that I have been involved in. Through grade school I won

state spelling bees and social studies fairs , which brought on even more hatred from my

peers.  Then I began participating in community theater, and the actors involved became

a second supportive family to me.  Throughout junior high I wasn’t liked much either

because I continued to be active in school and community activities.  Only when I began

conforming was I accepted.  This period of conformity lasted from ninth through eleventh

grades.  I wasn’t happy inside, but on the outside I was accepted by others.  But now in

my senior year I have given up conforming.  I am myself and I have found my identity.

I might not be cool but I have learned one has to love oneself before loving others.

Section III:   Values

I have always been taught to be loyal to those who are good to me.  When a friend

is good to me and has earned my trust, then I will always be trustworthy to them.  My

father is a very loyal and good person and I have been taught all my life by his example.

I believe that decency is a good virtue.  My mother has instilled in me the value of

being a decent person.  People are judged on how they conduct themselves in certain

situations, and being decent is a way to always uphold a good reputation.

I think that being well-mannered is necessary in society.  From the time that I was

a baby my parents have taught me to be well-mannered.  My mother has always said,

“Having good manners separates the classy people from the trashy people.”   This

statement is remains to be true even in today’s society.

I believe that being hard-working is a virtue lost in today’s world, but not for me.

My mother has taught me to not ever feel that anything will be given to me and that I must

work hard to succeed.

I have always been taught to get a good education. My parents have taught me

that education is the key to the future. By example, they have showed me this daily.

The virtue of being kind has been taught to me from my mother.  She has always

said, “Treat people as you would want to be treated.”  This is true in everyday life.

My parents have taught me not to congratulate or berate myself too much.

Because ones choices are only half chance.  One can never be too sure of ones self.  If one

is they are only setting themselves up for disappointment.

The value of being kind to others hearts and not to put up with those who abuse

mine is good advice for a teenage girl.  This virtue is sometimes hard to follow for some,

but since my parents have always instilled this in me it is easier.

Section IV:   Skills Area

Through fifteen years of dance training, I am a skilled dancer.  I am a good actor

because of the training I have received through community theater and drama

classes.  I am very well versed on life through my many successes and failures.  All of

these experiences will prove v...
