Term Papers on Pages Of Dreams
Pages of Dreams Americans do not like sleek lawyers. However they apparently love to read about them, and in this art form nobody can surpass John Grisham Jr. Grisham’s writing evolved from dreams and inspirations to success. On February 8th, 1955, John Grisham Jr. is born. His father, John Grisham, was a cotton farmer and construction worker, his mother was a homemaker. Growing up in a very small, close-knit, southern Baptist family, parties were off-limits, and so was television. During his school years, he was an athlete and wanted to play professional baseball. During his school days, he did not enjoy school, but he enjoyed reading. Every time his family moved they had a routine they followed after finding a home, first, they went to the local church, then to the library to get their membership. But it was not until his senior year in High school that his love for reading blossomed. “ I had the benefit of some very good high schools English teachers. One in particular when I was a senior… she forced us to read good books and good writers.” Mr. Grisham goes to say, “I read a lot of books when I was a kid, my mother did not believe in television. We just did not watch much of it. She thought it was bad, and that was 30 years ago. She believed in books, and we were thought to read early. We wore encouraged to read,…,by my mother.” ( Interview) Neither his mother nor his teacher shattered John’s dream to play major league baseball, from the time he was six years old until he was twenty, he said, “It took a long time for the dream to die. He then decided to study accounting and go to law school to became a tax lawyer, at the same time he said to himself. It’s time to forget about playing baseball. At that point he said he was no longer a kid (interview). By this time it was 1976, and he enrolled in the accounting program at Mississippi State and received a Bachelors in accounting in 1977. Grisham then studied tax law at the University of Mississippi, but soon he discovered that he did not enjoy his chosen field; once again, he changed course turning his attention to criminal law. In 1981, he earned his law degree and married Renee Jones, who became Renee Grisham. Soon after earning his law degree he set up practice in Southaven, Mississippi. In 1983, the voters of Mississippi’s Seventh District sent John to Jackson as their state representative. By his second term, Mr. Grisham gained the vice-chairmanship of the Apportionment and elections committee. As well as memberships on the Insurance, Judiciary A, and Military Affairs Committees (Grisham Awards). During this period of political activism, Grisham continued to practice as a criminal lawyer.
