That way out was to kill himself. In the statements above he describes what is stopping him from killing himself. He says that he fears something after death that might even be worse than the problems he has right now. He tells us that the fear of whatever there is after death makes us rather deal with the problems we have right now. Finally Hamlet decides to fight against the king and not to kill himself. In this part of Hamlet's "to be or not to be …" speech, Hamlet tells us what is stopping him from killing himself and getting out of the situation he is in. He is deciding whether or not he should kill the king or kill himself. This is one of Hamlet's main problems. He thinks too much. He takes too long thinking about what to do when he should be taking action already. His thinking so much is what caused him to even come up with the idea of killing himself. Any other person would probably just take action and kill the king without even having the thought of killing himself. Dying is the problem. We don't know what happens after death. It could be a peaceful sleep, but it could be a nightmare. It would be so easy to end all troubles by simply putting oneself to rest with a dagger, but men fear death from which "no traveller returns" and put up with familiar problems rather than "fly to others that we know not of."
