Jesus of Nazareth

     This paper is a comparison of the book Jesus:  A Gospel Portrait by author Donald Senior and the movie Jesus of Nazareth.  They both share the story of Jesus through the gospels, only in different aspects.  Both the movie and the book give great detail to the life of Jesus.  They do, however, go about this in a different manner.  Reading the book and watching the movie were two totally different learning experiences for me.  They both had positive and negative attributes.
     The movie Jesus of Nazareth was very interesting in my point of view.  I truly feel that I received more from the movie than I did the book.  The main reason for this is that the movie was more towards the spiritual outlook of the gospels.  It showed his preachings, demonstrations, healings explained in the gospels.  Jesus' healings were

revealed many times throughout the showing.  My opinion is that the movie portrayed Jesus very spiritually.
     On the other hand, the book had direct focus on the gospels.  The author, Donald Senior, introduced many dates and locations dealing with Jesus and the gospels.  While these are important, I felt that the book was sometimes hard to read.  I would read a few pages and not remember half of the information that was given.  The movie was more entertaining and open for discussion.  I believe Senior wrote the book to analyze the gospels rather to tell the story of Jesus, which the movie did.  The book used quotes and cited from the Bible repeatedly.  It involved many facts, taking the bible literally in some spots.  I found the movie to be leaning in the direction of Christian Science.  In contrast, Senior used an analytical perspective.  He does not show any signs of bias.  An...
