Military in Greece
A Greek soldiers armor was made up of a Helmet, cuirass, shield and greaves. The helmets were often decorated with horse hair to make a soldier look taller and stronger than he really was they also had long nose pieces and cheek guards. The cuirass was made up of leather straps and bronze to protect his shoulders. Shields were round and the only protection a solider would have it was made out of brass and had leather straps on the back for handles. Greaves were made of leather and metal and were made to protect the lower legs. The weapons a solider could use were bows, slings, swords, and spears. The bows were used as a rear defense line and the archers had little protection. Slings were also used as a rear line of defense and the people had very little armor also. Foot soldiers were armed with a sword and or a spear. The spear could be up to 13 feet long and then it was called a sarissa.
Greek Inventions
Some of the Greeks inventions were democracy, a system where people vote for who they want to lead their country, and the one with the most votes becomes the new ruler. Sympcisus were parties with entertainment, drinking and where people would go to discuss important matters. Strigil was a curved blade that the Greeks would use to wipe oil and dirt from their skin.
