Microsoft
O.K., Paranoid you say. I know, and am forced to agree. For the most part I'm not the paranoid type, but I ask that you hear me out. First of all, do you have any idea how much money Bill Gates has in his personal accounts? That's right, a hell of a lot. He has enough money to do whatever he wants in life. For that, I'm happy for him. Honestly I use and love many of his controbutions to computer technology. I also like Bill Gates as a person. I purchased and read his book The Road Ahead, which was excellent. However it's not the money that I have a problem with. It's what he has the potential to do with it. Currently Microsoft is working on an extensive project called Digital T.V., which I'm surely you've all heard of. Microsoft is doing everything they can to perpare for this new wave in media which will offer a watch when you want, what you want programing. Here is the part that concerns me. In preperation for this online T.V., or WebT.V, Microsoft has purchased an entire network. This network was NBC, now known as MSNBC. This is a tremendously brilliant marketing strategy. When Digital T.V. is ready to go, MSNBC will be there to offer it. All right Bill, great idea. But what's this that I just heard today? He may be purchasing yet another television network? All right folks, this time Microsoft is in talks with CBS. Here is a current report, from the authors of Yahoo. CBS is one of the largest and most watched networks in this country, primarily for news. It may soon be known as MSCBS. Now that's two down for Bill. If he can snag these two networks, the world of television is his oyster. Please, don't think for a second that he doesn't know this. Bill Gates is definitely a business man, and a brilliant one. Microsoft has made it clear that it wants domains over the Internet. They have released products (Microsoft Internet Explorer) time after time to make sure that a company such as Netscape gets out of the way. It has done this by matching the quality, and bells and whistles in products like Netscape Navigator, and giving it away free. They are currently in a vigerous compitition, releases of versions of their products being introduced side by side every time. Do you think Microsoft gives his product away free out of the goodness of their heart? I certaintly don't think so. I think that it's a ploy to put his competitors out of business. Netscape, 3 or 4 months ago held 72% of the market of Web Browsers. They held out strong against all other browsers for a long time. Now however, Microsoft has offered their product for free that does essentially the same thing (at least it's free for now while they have compitition). Once the comptition is eleminated Microsoft will have a free hold on that market, charging what they feel is fair for the future releases of their browsers. Kid. I'm telling ya. No one has that kind of power. Really? Interesting you should mention that. Well, if you really don't think so, I ...Read entire document
