It basically says that people are chained to the wall of a cave and they have nothing to look at but the shadows on the wall.  This is all that they know and they have never been out of the cave.  What if one of these men’s chains were taken off and he was free to leave?  Would the man feel pain when he saw the real world?  What if the man was briefly educated before entering the real world?  Perhaps the man would understand and not be confused about what is real.  Questions like these would bring different beliefs and ideology to “The Allegory of the Cave”.
