Childcare Issues of Working People
Acquisition of infectious diseases at daycare facilities or in school, asthma, high cost of daycare, conflict with job hours and childhood diseases for example measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox etc. are among some of the problems people face daily in their lives. There are many illnesses that could be detrimental to a child’s health for the simple fact they are much more susceptible to these diseases and onset and progression may be very rapid. This can be a problem to people since they may have to take off work to address their children’s healthcare need (mori.com/polls2002).
Employers of these working adults could help these people by implementing flexible work schedules and practices to accommodate their special circumstances. Many adults have to make sure that children are dropped off at school or at daycare or nursery facilities before they report to work each day. This more often than not means that time needed to care for their kids interfere with work hours. In the case of sudden illness or injury a parent may have to leave work early or request days off work in order to address these childcare issues many times leaving employers shorthanded. This could be offset by big employers by way of having on site daycare and or nursery facilities to alleviate the burdens on these people. People would then be in close proximity to children and would dispel the need for possible long commutes to pick up children in case of emergencies. Employers can also provide help and guidance to working adults on finding good low cost daycare.
