            Alcohol is a sedative hypnotic that can be very damaging to one’s health. Alcohol causes people to feel relaxed and socially outgoing, which usually causes the drinker to drink more in order to keep the "buzzed" feeling.  Though alcohol may make him or her feel great for a while, the consequences of this drug can be lifethreatening.  Due to an excessive consumption of alcohol, one can become unconscious, have trouble breathing, and/or may be in the need of medical attention. When too much alcohol is consumed, the drinker is very likely to throw up, which can block their airway, causing suffercation and even death.  When a drunk person passes out, their body continues to absorb the alcohol, causing their blood alcohol level to become extremely high.  If alcohol is mixed with another drug, it can effect ones ability to drive a car and operate heavy machinery.  


            Prior to attending this meeting, I never really thought about the consequences alcohol can have on the body.  The speaker discussed stages of alcoholism, and the way alcohol affects one’s behavior.  According to the speaker, I am no where near alcoholism, which felt reassuring to me.  Moreover, I was shocked to hear just what exactly the stages entailed.  Looking at some of my friend...
