Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) Bertolt Brecht original name is EUGEN BERTHOLD FRIEDRICH BRECHT. He is German poet and playwright. In both text book and BUYIBT, he is also introduced as famous theater reformer. He departed the theater from the conventions of theatrical illusion and developed the drama as a social and ideological forum. As same as Morgan said “Adolf Hitler beat him to it”, in 1933 he went into exile. His books were burned in German. He went to Denmark and then Unit States. During that period, he wrote several great plays. Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder; Thirty Years' War; Leben des Galilei ; Der gute Mensch von Sezuan which is a parable play set in prewar China; Der Aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui; Herr Puntila und sein Knecht Matti , a Volksstuck and so on.
